10th World Ayurveda Congress (WAC 2024) and Arogya Expo in Dehradun

Today marked the inauguration of the 10th World Ayurveda Congress (WAC 2024) and Arogya Expo in Dehradun. Union Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, and Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha were among those present.

According to Union Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav, the Congress represents the convergence of different cultures, ideologies, and innovations, indicating the global reach and influence of Ayurveda. The Ayurveda manufacturing industry has experienced remarkable 8-fold growth during the last decade, an indicator of the growing international demand for Ayurveda products. The event has so far attracted over 5500 Indian delegates and more than 350 international delegates from 54 countries, clearly indicating the global interest in Ayurveda.  The event will feature more than 150 scientific sessions, 13 associate events, and panel discussions on integrating Ayurveda with modern health solutions on challenges in contemporary health issues.

Key points of the event

• WAC 2024 Theme: WAC 2024 is centered on the theme "Digital Health: An Ayurveda Perspective," where it focuses on the integration of modern digital technologies with Ayurveda for health care delivery and research purposes.

• Technological Advancements in Ayurveda: Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha thought that innovative solutions like Ayush Grid, which is a technological solution enhance the effectiveness, safety, and affordability of healthcare. A $1.3 billion investment pipeline from global partners is also expected.

• "Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan": On Ayurveda Day, the nationwide campaign to assess the Ayurvedic Prakriti (constitution) of more than 1 crore people was launched as the biggest endeavor to spread health awareness based on Ayurveda.

• Celebration of the Future of Ayurveda: WAC 2024 aims to give an outline for Ayurveda's journey into the world of global health by embedding time-tested wisdom into cutting-edge digital tools that will usher in further growth and sustainability for the holistic system.

Objectives and Significance 

• Create Ayurveda awareness and make it the chosen method of treatment.

• Found collaborations with other countries to do research and practice Ayurveda.

• Highlight the Ministry of Ayush’s role in advancing Ayurveda globally.

As ministry roles, the Ministry of Ayush organizes the Congress along with scientific validation, further research in Ayurveda, and spreading it through the globe for its increasing importance in health initiatives throughout the world.
