Armenia is the first country to join the International Solar Alliance as its member making the body’s total membership 104 now. ASA was founded in the year 2015 while COP21 in Paris and it concentrates on the use of solar energy, especially among the tropical nations. It also underscores the rising global appreciation for the role of solar power as one of the major weapons that the global population now uses to fight climate change and the resulting effects to get sustainable development. This rehabilition adds one more prong to the mission of ISA which strengthens its enhancing global solar energy cause. The entry point of Armenia has been gaining a lot of attention in the international current affairs 2024 and therefore important under SSC and UPSC preparations.
The ISA was designed and launched by India and France to collectively and proactively address energy problems associated with fossil fuel use and call for solar power adoption. That means its primary objective is to establish a common working environment for the member states that will facilitate the exchange of the necessary resources, knowledge, and technologies concerning the use of solar energy. The addition of Armenia to the ISA is evidence of its desire to go green and to diversify its energy supply. Some of the domains include technical fields like solar technology, financial aspects like financing structures and other more capacity-related categories like capacity development projects.
This entry of Armenia to the ISA itself is a sign of increased concentration on the sustainable energy solutions. Joining this platform, Armenia gets not only new high technologies for solar power generation but also an opportunity to attract international funding. It is understood that this cooperation will increase the progress of the installation of renewable energy sources in Armenia by simplifying its energy conditions and make appropriate changes to energy security.
ISA was launched in 2015, India being among the founding members that have been at the forefront supporting solar energy solutions. The above measures that India has continued to undertake to support the development of renewable energy sources has not only supported the objectives of the alliance, but have some how influenced countries like the Republic of Armenia to embrace the alliance. This development has added more vigour to India’s global commitment to the renewable energy sector which is considered as a major event in current affairs for both SSC and UPSC.
The membership of Armenia to the ISA shows growing global attention towards transformations towards renewables. With climate changing across the globe, such an initiative such as ISA acts as a platform that celebrates the attainment of climate goals among nations of the world. Armenia’s membership is a step towards attaining the overall goals of cutting down greenhouse gases emission and securing energy for the world.
Armenia’s commitment as a member of the ISA supports the global change towards sustainable energy. One way this development bolsters the ISA also speaks to the need for multinational cooperation regarding climate change.
