The 19th edition of the Asian Games 2022 was held in Hangzhou, the People's Republic of China, from 23 September to 8 October 2023. In this edition, China has topped the medal tally with 201 gold, followed by Japan, South Korea, and India. This edition became a memorable Asian game for India, as for the first time, India has gained 107 medals including 28 gold, 38 silver, and 41 bronze, and history was created by India at this game. History of Asian Games:                                                              

  • Asian Games, also known as Asiad, is held every four years among athletes from all over Asia.

  • This game is regulated by the Olympic Council of Asia, located in Kuwait City, Kuwait.

  • Since 1982, the Olympic Council of Asia has replaced the Asian Games Federation (AGF), which was dissolved in 1982.

  • The inaugural edition of the Asian Games was held in New Delhi, in 1951.

  • Anivash Sable won the gold medal in the first gold medal for India in the 3000 steeplechase event.

  • India's dressage team including a quartet of Sudipti Hajela, Divyakriti Singh, Vipul Hriday Chheda, and Anush Agarwalla won gold for India after 41 years in the Asian Games
