The 19th edition of the Asian Games 2022 was held in Hangzhou, the People's Republic of China, from 23 September to 8 October 2023. In this edition, China has topped the medal tally with 201 gold, followed by Japan, South Korea, and India. This edition became a memorable Asian game for India, as for the first time, India has gained 107 medals including 28 gold, 38 silver, and 41 bronze, and history was created by India at this game. This game is regulated by the Olympic Council of Asia, located in Kuwait City, Kuwait.
Since 1982, the Olympic Council of Asia has replaced the Asian Games Federation (AGF), which was dissolved in 1982.
The inaugural edition of the Asian Games was held in New Delhi, in 1951.

India won its 100th medal, which is gold, in the Women’s Kabaddi Team event, after defeating Chinese Taipei 26-25.
India also clinched the gold medal in Women’s Kabaddi Team event at Guangzhou 2010, defended its title at Incheon 2014, and finished runners-up at Jakarta 2018.
Anivash Sable won the gold medal in the first gold medal for India in the 3000 steeplechase event.
