The museum operates within the constituency of the government’s overarching drive to create constitutional cultural literacy among individuals. The idea is to ensure that people or especially students and scholars engage a better understanding of the Constitutional principles such as justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity. Hence by capturing history, including the present time, the museum provides intellectual and historical resource to everyone.
Let us recall that President Droupadi Murmu during her inaugural speech also pointed out that women played an active role in preparation of the Constitution. Thus out of 299 members of the Constituent Assembly, 15 were women and they were such luminaries as Sarojini Naidu, Sucheta Kripalani and Dakshayani Velayudhan. These women brought topics of gender equity, justice as well as education, in their various platforms.
The museum has great potential of turning out to be a strong referral institution for students preparing for competitive examinations such as SSC and UPSC apart from holding historical and detailed information on constitution of India and India’s democracy. Scholars and history lovers may visit the records and the galleries to expand their knowledge of the Government of India.
Constitution museum being more than obvious symbolism in Sonipat it is the symbol of democracy and the primary source of citizens’ enlightenment. More importantly, it fosters respect of the purpose and principles for which the constitution was established in India, during the formative years.
