CHARAK: Community Health: A Responsive Action for Koylanchal” in Singrauli

Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has launched 'CHARAK' (Community Health: Launched under its CSR drive ‘A Responsive Action for Koylanchal’, SAIL extends free treatment of life-threatening diseases with economically weaker sections of Singrauli. Some diseases include cancer treatment, TB, HIV/AIDS, cardiovascular diseases, organ transplants, severe burns, liver disease, certain neurological diseases, and sudden severe loss of vision or hearing. It is open for beneficiaries residing in Singrauli and Sonbhadra districts of Uttar Pradesh for a family income up to Rs. 80000. The treatment will be delivered at NCL’s hospital or through empaneled hospital networks across the country. Charitable and nonprofit organization Charak works towards relieving the economic and emotional stress on affected families, and provides important medical assistance when needed. NCL has devoted an amount of more than Rs.1000 crores to different CSR activities in the last ten years benefiting nearly One lakh people and targeting enhancing the socio-economic standard of this region.

Objective: The Singrauli-based eastern lignite division of NCL has recently commenced its CSR program CHARAK under which the economically weaker section of the society of Singrauli will be treated for life-threatening diseases free of cost.

Coverage: The scope of the initiative will include malignancy, Tuberculosis, HIV, cardiovascular diseases, major organ transplants, burns, liver diseases, neurological affections, sudden deaf & dumbness and many more.

Eligibility: Presently the scheme is available for districts Singrauli & Sonbhadra, to only those families, whose annual income does not exceed up to Rs. 800,000/- only.

Specialized Treatment: They will be treated at NSC which is the company’s hospital or at specialized empanelled hospitals located all over India.

Social Impact: That, in turn, draws hope for families who otherwise would not be able to pay for necessary treatments, easing their financial and emotional load.

NCL’s Commitment: NCL has committed an expenditure of over 1000 crores on CSR activities in the past decade touching nearly ten lakhs of lives of people especially to uplift the socio economic standard of the area.
