• Centrally Sponsored scheme

• Aim: To provide proper support to craftspeople and c, who work with their tools and hands.

• It covers craftspeople and artisans engaged in 18 trades.

• Benefits:

  • Recognition: The government will recognize craftspersons and artisans with a PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID card.

  • Skill Upgradation: Basic Training (5-7 days) and Advanced Training (15 days or more), and Stipend (Rs. 500 per day)

  • Toolkit Incentive: Upto Rs 15,000

  • Credit Support:

    • The government will provide collateral free 'Enterprise Development Loan'.

    • Loan amount: Up to 3 Lakh in two tranches (Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 2 lakh with tenures of 18 months and 30 months, respectively)

    • Loan will be provided at concessional rate of interest fixed at 5% and can be extended to 8%.

7. Skills on Wheels

In the news:

• Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan and Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla jointly launched an initiative named 'Skills on Wheels', a bus, in New Delhi.

• This initiative aimed to empower 60,000 rural youth (especially women) with digital skills.

• Primary aim: To enhance the rural youth's employability and prepare them for the challenges of the future job market

• It is a joint initiative of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and IndusInd Bank.

• This bus will travel across aspirational and backward districts, to promote the Skill India Mission to the remotest corners of India.
