1. Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2021
In the news:
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, headed under Anurag Thakur, has announced that veteran actor (Female) Waheeda Rehman has been named for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2021.
She has been chosen for her exemplary work in the Indian entertainment industry (Indian Cinema).
In her long career, she has been awarded with many awards including National Film Award and three Filmfare Awards.
She was also conferred with the Padma Shri (1972) and Padma Bhushan (2011).

He is known as the 'Father of Indian cinema'.
His debut film was Raja Harishchandra, which was released in 1913.
2. India's historic gold in Equestrian dressage team event
In the news:
India has won the third gold in the Equestrian dressage team event on Day 3 of the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China.
With this award, India's medal tally has been reached to 14, including 3 gold, 4 silver, and 7 bronze.
In Equestrian Dressage Team event, the team of Hriday Chheda, Anush Agarwalla, Sudipti Hajela and Divyakriit Singh helped India to get its third gold medal, after defeating China.
India won gold in the event after 41 years at the Asian Games.
Sailor, Neha Thakur has won the silver medal in the girl's dinghy ILCA-4 event at the Asian Games.
Sailor, Eabad Ali secured a bronze in the men's windsurfer - RS:X event.

3. Appointment of Dhanlaxmi Bank chairman
In the news:
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has cleared the appointment of KN Madhusoodanan as a part-time chairman of Dhanlaxmi Bank for a period of three years, effective from September 26, 2023.
He replaced G Subramonia Iyer, who resigned in in December 2021 for personal reasons.
He is the managing director (MD) of various private limited companies, mainly MSME sector.
He is also involved in social service activities to improve the economic conditions of socially and economically disadvantaged individuals in rural areas in India.
He is associated with Kerala's social service organizations.
4. One-year term extension of RBI deputy governor
In the news:
The Union government of India has extended the term of RBI deputy governor M Rajeshwar Rao for a period of one year.
His tenure has been extended from October 9, 2023, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
About M Rajeshwar Rao:
He was appointed as Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a period of three years in October 2020.
Task: He is responsible for the financial regulation.
Prior to this role, he was also served as the chief general manager of the financial markets operations department.
He was appointed as the executive director in November 2016.
He was working with the department of statistics and information management, financial markets operation department and international department.

5. World Tourism Day 2023
In the news:
The World Tourism Day is observed annually on September 27 to promote the tourism across the world.
The theme for World Tourism Day 2023 is 'Tourism and green investment’, highlights the need for more investments for the sustainable development goals (SDG) for a better world by 2030.
This day was announced by the World Tourism Organisation (WTO) in 1979, and was first observed in 1980.
In 2023, Saudi Arabia is the chair of the UNWTO Executive Council.

6. Maruti Suzuki, Indian Navy partner for Northeast Outreach Programme
In the news:
In September 2023, Maruti Suzuki India has partnered with the Indian Navy for Northeast Outreach Programme i.e 'Khamree Mo Sikkim'.
This programme aims to encourage the career opportunities among the youth of Northeastern India through this outreach programme.
In this programme, a 6,500 km long expedition was flagged off from the Indian Navy base, located in Lonavala Maharashtra.
The five vehicles, including three Maruti Suzuki Jimnys and two Grand Vitaras would be drive by a total of 45 Navy officials for the next few weeks.
The expedition is planned in three stretches with sepcific focus and purpose.
Stretch 1: It will started from INS Shivaji and reach Bagdogra
Stretch 2: It will cover Sikkim
Stretch 3: It will extend from Gangtok, Sikkim, back to INS Shivaji
7. EX -YUDH ABHYAS 2023
In the news:
The 19th edition of 'Exercise YUDH ABHYAS' will be organized in Fort Wainwright, Alaska, USA from 25th September to 8th October 2023.
It is an annual exercise conducted between Indian Army and the United States Army.
2023 theme: Employment of an Integrated Battle Group in Mountain/ Extreme Climatic Conditions.
In November 2022, the Exercise was conducted in Auli, Uttarakhand, India.
350 personnel from the Indian Army will be participated in the 19th edition of the YUDH ABHYAS.
The lead battalion from MARATHA Light Infantry Regiment.
While, 1-24 Infantry Battalion of 1st Brigade Combat Team will participate from the US.
8. TN approves Agricultural Mechanisation Scheme Subsidy
In the news
The Tamil Nadu Government has approved the Agricultural Mechanisation Scheme subsidy for Chennai-based drone company Garuda Aerospace.
Aim of scheme: To address shortage of labour in agriculture sector and enhance crop production capabilities
According to the scheme, drones will be subsidised for pesticide spraying and pest and disease monitoring.
Farmers, who acquires subsidised drones can opt hire licensed pilots, or opt for drone pilot training and licensing.
Under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, bank loans for Garuda Aerospace Agri drones are also entitled for a 3% interest subsidy.
9. Best Tourism Village of India in 2023
In the news:
The Ministry of Tourism has declared Biswanath Ghat, located in Assam as the Best Tourism Village of India for the year 2023.
This award reflects the Assam government efforts in promoting rural tourism.
This village is located in the south of Biswanath Chariali Town, Assam.
This is also referred to as ‘Gupta Kashi', derived from the ancient Biswanath temple in the Biswanath Chariali Town.
Particularly, a Shiva temple graces the Bridhaganga (Burigonga) River and Brahmaputra confluence.

10. Three national awards to Chhattisgarh for Ayushman Bharat scheme
In the news:
Chhattisgarh has been awarded three national awards for the excellent implementation of Ayushman Bharat Scheme in the Arogya Manthan 2023 program.
Chhattisgarh received three national awards in the large state category of large states for -
Gender equality in providing services under Ayushman Bharat Scheme
Utilization of the 100% amount, allocated to the state and more than 90% of the families having at least one Ayushman card.
