The 14th Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh was born in 1932 and passed away in 2024, this great Indian economist was also a prominent statesman. Originally from Gah, West Punjab now in Pakistan, he got his Master’s in Economics from the Punjab University and his Doctorate from Oxford University. He was in his lifelong position during 1990-1991 as the Finance Minister of India; he was the architect and led the liberalization of the Indian economy.
Mr. Manmohan Singh held the office of the PM from 2004 till 2014 heading the UPA government for ten years which ranks the third longest in Indian history. His term was centered on development, social justice, and foreign policy, including MNREGA or the nuclear deal with the US. He also improved India’s position in the world economy and strategic relations.
An esteemed scholar, and honest and humble man, Singh was educated in many areas, including but not limited to being the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India and the Chief Economic Adviser. He has been conferred with Padma Vibhushan; he is considered the chief engineer of India’s economic modernization.
