Increased Data Centers: In order to satiate growing requirements of cloud, data, and AI/ML applications, the Indian data center business is also scaling up.
High-tech national data centers such as Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Pune, and Delhi have been initiated by NIC under National Data Centres.
Capacity Expansion: NDC storage capacity has reached about 100PB, with 5,000 servers supporting cloud workloads. A new Tier-III NDC with 200 racks, expandable to 400 racks, is being set up in Guwahati to further support the Northeast region.
National Data Centre for Northeast India: The NDC-NER was launched in September 2020 to bridge the digital divide and promote socio-economic development in the region.
NIC National Cloud Services: Launched in 2022, this initiative aims to improve national cloud infrastructure, enhancing e-Governance services and ensuring efficient service delivery across 300+ government departments.
GI Cloud (MeghRaj): This platform provides cloud-based ICT services to government departments at the Centre and in States/UTs, promoting nationwide cloud adoption and supporting the deployment of e-Government applications such as digital payments and identity verification.
Foundational Digital Systems: DPI includes Aadhaar, UPI, and DigiLocker, which transform public services.
The Aadhaar has provided a unique biometric identity for 138.34 crore individuals, while the UPI has facilitated 24,100 crore digital transactions as of June 2024.
Other Digital Platforms: DigiLocker has more than 37 crore users, providing digital document verification.
DIKSHA is the largest education platform, which has been able to deliver 556.37 crore learning sessions.
Other significant platforms include GeM, UMANG, Co-WIN, and Aarogya Setu, serving health, education, and public service needs.
High-Speed Data Communication Network: NKN connects National and State Data Centres, District Connectivity, and Digital India initiatives, supporting Government-to-Government (G2G) and Government-to-Citizen (G2C) services.
It has linked over 1,800 institutions, enabling digital governance and efficient e-government service delivery.
CSCs Network: Over 5.84 lakh CSCs across India, including 4.63 lakh at the Gram Panchayat level, deliver over 800 services ranging from government schemes to education, telemedicine, and financial services.
Citizen-Centric Digital Services
UMANG App: A unified mobile app providing access to over 2,000 government services from 207 departments. With over 7.12 crore users, it simplifies citizen interaction with government services across sectors such as health, education, and pensions.
MeriPehchaan: An integrated SSO platform offering single-authentication access for all government services, with 132 crore+ transactions.
e-Sign and API Setu: The former facilitates digital signing; the latter, with its 6,000 plus APIs, ensures seamless exchange of data and delivery of services.
DigiLocker: The leading platform for issuing and verifying documents with over 37 crore registered users transforming the way of managing documents.
The Entity Locker add-on supports organizations with secure cloud storage and verification services.
CollabFiles and GovDrive: The platforms support secure document management, allowing government officials to create, share, and store documents safely.
Gov Intranet Platform: A safe gateway for the government employees to access all the applications, including eMail, eOffice, and more that are being used to enhance government processes.
