The Uttar Pradesh government will conduct a cow census across the state in three categories including determining the number of destitute animals with cattle rearers, abandoned cows on the streets, and Kanha Upvans.

2. Surat Indian Navy's Project 15b Warship

In the news:

• Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel has unveiled the crest of the Indian Navy’s latest, under-construction, guided missile destroyer ‘Surat’ in the city of Surat.
• The warship also became the first warship to be named after a city in Gujarat.
• The crest of Surat depicts the famous lighthouse at Hazira, which is located in Surat.
• It was built in 1836, this lighthouse was one of the first lighthouses in India.
• The Asiatic lion on the crest symbolizes the majesty and strength of the ship.

3. Appointment of new Chief Information Commissioner (CIC)

In the news:

• The government of India has appointed Heeralal Samariya as the Chief Information Commissioner in the Central Information Commission, who took charge on November 6, 2023.
• Along with Heeralal, Anandi Ramalingam, and Vinod Kumar Tiwari were also sworn in as Information Commissioners in the Central Information Commission.

• Recently, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) Secretary S Krishnan has collaborated with the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Delhi-NCR to launch the LEAP AHEAD initiative, at the LEAP AHEAD summit.
• This initiative will be a game-changer for tech Startups that are in the scaling stage, growth stage, product diversification, or planning expansion into new geographical locations.

5. Training of Master Trainers & Assessors Programme under PM Vishwakarma scheme

• The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship started the Training of Master Trainers and Assessors Programme under the PM Vishwakarma scheme.
• Aim: To empower the artisans and craftsmen community in identified trades
• The master trainers will play a pivotal role as torchbearers of knowledge and innovation in shaping the future of the country.
• This five-day residential training programme is being held at the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development till the 10th of November.
• The programme is set to train 41 master trainers from 10 different States, including Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh.

• In Chess, R Vaishali won FIDE Women’s Grand Swiss 2023 at the Isle of Man in the UK, after defeating Mongolia’s Batkhuyag Munguntuul.
• Vidit Gujrathi beat Alexandr Predke of Serbia to record his seventh victory in the event and take the top spot in the open section.
• Both Vaishali and Vidit ended with identical 8.5 points apiece and stayed a half point clear of their nearest rivals.
• While Vaishali got richer by over 20 lakh rupees, Vidit took home a whopping prize purse of over 66 lakh rupees.
• Vaishali became the first Indian to win the Grand Swiss and will have her task cut out in the Candidates alongside India’s first woman Grandmaster - Koneru Humpy.
