The 14th Asia-Oceania Meteorological Satellite Users' Conference (AOMSUC-14)

The 14th Asia-Oceania Meteorological Satellite Users' Conference (AOMSUC-14) is being held in New Delhi from 4-6 December 2024 hosted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ministry of Earth Sciences. It is a global participation for space technological advancements specifically in meteorological uses like disaster management, climate change etc. The pre-conference is focused on training professional from multiple countries including India for better use of the satellites for meteorological applications.

Aim/Objectives of AOMSUC-14:

  1. Promote the importance of Satellite Observations: This conference will highlight the importance of satellite in meteorology, climate change observations, disaster management and other environmental events.

  2. Advance satellite Remote Sensing Science: It aims to upgrade the technology in Remote Sensing technologies such as geo-stationary satellites, polar-orbiting satellitesfpr weather forecasting, temperature variations etc.

  3. Platform for global dialogue and collaboration

  4. Discussion on updates regarding upcoming space programs of the nations

  5. Encouraging Development of new technologies

  6. Engaging young scientists in meteorology and Remote sensing

Event Details: With the event being hosted in New Delhi, India, there will be other 150 participants from all around the world.

Inaugural Speaker: Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for multiple ministries, including Earth Sciences, Science & Technology, and Space.

The first AOMSUC was held in Beijing, China, in 2010.Since then, it has been hosted annually in different locations across the Asia-Oceania region, becoming a significant event for meteorologists, earth scientists, and satellite operators globally.
