Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana to empower rural women by providing financial independence and creating employment opportunities as LIC agents, known as Bima Sakhis. The scheme aims to enhance financial inclusion and social security while contributing to the government's broader "Insurance for All" campaign. Additionally, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the Maharana Pratap University of Horticulture in Haryana, focusing on advancing horticulture education and research.

  • The scheme will create employment opportunities for 2 lakh women owning Insurance agents known as Bima sakhis.

  • He elaborated on the functioning of Self Help Groups SHGs which had commenced to revolutionize the rural economy through linking with over 100 million women.

Foundation Stone of Maharana Pratap Horticultural University:

  • PM also inaugurated the Maharana Pratap Horticultural University which is located in Karnal, Haryana and will prove to be beneficial in improving horticulture education and research.

  • The university will be set up with a budget of ₹ 700 crore and aims at providing graduate and post-graduate degrees in horticulture.

Commitment to a Developed India by 2047:

  • The Prime Minister briefly stressed the government’s goal of making India a developed country by the time of the country’s seventy years of independence in 2047 while particularly focusing on the role and significance of women in the development process with special reference to the Bima Sakhi.

  • He also spoke about various schemes of the government for farmers of Haryana which included over ₹1.25 lakh crore MSP for farmers and ₹800 crore to farmers affected by drought.
