The REET 2024 eligibility exam pattern has got a lot of changes which will be effective for the upcoming exam of February 2025. For the first time in the history of the REET exam, the candidates will have five multiple-choice options instead of four. Additionally, a crucial new rule has been introduced: negative marking will now apply for unanswered questions. Many of these changes will represent new kinds of challenges for candidates and it is important to be prepared for them. The key changes in the REET 2024 exam pattern are listed below.
Negative Marking
The inclusion of negative marking is one of the new additions to this year’s analysis. If candidates do not answer any question, they will lose some marks. In the previous examinations, if a candidate missed a question, it did not attract any penalty, but in current examinations, candidates must answer all questions to minimize chances of losing additional marks.
Changes in OMR Sheet
OMR sheet of this year will have 5 options for each question instead of previous 4. This change of status to 5 options will make the candidates more careful and selective in choosing their answers.
For each question, the correct answer will be hidden among the first four options. The fifth option should only be selected if you are unsure about the correct answer. This fifth option will not add any extra marks nor will it affect your score if selected correctly. However, if you forget to select the fifth option, marks will be deducted from your total score. Additionally, if you fail to attempt at least 10% of the questions by not selecting any of the five options, you will be disqualified from the exam.
New Disqualification Rule
Apart from the addition of the negative marking of the answers there is a new rule that dictates the outcome of the unanswered questions. Consequently, if participants fail to answer more than 10% of questions provided within the exam, they will be disqualified from further examination. This means a candidate has to make sure that he or she answers at least ninety percent of all the questions so as not to be disqualified.
